Apple Releases tvOS 17.5 System Update and HomePod Software 17.5 Update

TapTechNews May 14 news, Apple today released the tvOS 17.5 system update, which is the fifth iterative update of the tvOS 17 operating system released in September last year, two months after the last tvOS 17.4 update.

Users can get the update through the Settings app on the Apple TV device, go to System > Software Update to download and install. For Apple TV devices with automatic update enabled, they will be automatically upgraded to tvOS 17.5.

Compared to other operating system updates, tvOS updates often focus more on system stability and performance improvements rather than new features. During the testing phase of tvOS 17.5, no new features were found to be added. Apple will update its tvOS support documents after each new version of tvOS is released, which contains detailed version update instructions.

TapTechNews noted that Apple also released the 17.5 update for HomePod and HomePod mini. It has been two months since the last HomePod software 17.4 update, which introduced new music preference features. Apple did not specify what contents are included in HomePod 17.5, the general release notes only indicate that stability and performance improvements have been made. It is worth mentioning that the HomePod 17.5 update may only be applicable to certain regions' HomePods.
