Amazon to invest 10 billion euros in Germany for cloud infrastructure

On June 19, TapTechNews. Amazon announced today that it will invest 10 billion euros in Germany (TapTechNews note: currently about 77.967 billion yuan) to meet the needs of cloud infrastructure and logistics. This also means that Amazon's total investment in Germany will reach 17.8 billion euros (currently about 138.782 billion yuan).

The vast majority (8.8 billion euros) of this investment will be used to expand Amazon AWS's cloud infrastructure by 2026. Amazon said that the company has seen the growing potential of various technologies driven by AI in Europe.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that this investment will create more than 4,000 jobs in Germany this year and highly praised it, claiming that this highlights Germany's attractiveness to investors.

Currently, Germany is coping with the economic downturn caused by high energy costs and high interest rates, as well as insufficient investment partly due to red tape. Previously, when Tesla applied to build a super factory in Germany, Elon Musk had criticized the bureaucratic style of the regulatory agency.

Reuters also reported late last month that Amazon is in negotiations with the Italian government to plan to invest billions of euros to expand its data center business in the country.
