Hyundai and Kia Recall Thousands of Vehicles in China Due to Fire Risk

TapTechNews June 7th news, currently, Hyundai Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., in accordance with the requirements of the 'Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products' and the 'Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products', has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. Decided to recall a total of 2393 imported Kia Niro hybrid vehicles produced during the period from October 4, 2016 to October 30, 2018 starting from June 18, 2024.

For some vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to the possibility of foreign matters flowing into the connector of the hydraulic engine clutch actuator (HCA) during manufacturing or transportation, it causes a short circuit in the internal substrate of the connector, presenting a fire risk.

TapTechNews learned from the announcement that Hyundai Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will, through authorized repair stations, check the HCA and replace it with an improved HCA fuse for vehicles within the recall range free of charge. If there is a fault code in the HCA, then replace the HCA assembly free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.

In addition, Jiangsu Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Ltd., in accordance with the requirements of the 'Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products' and the 'Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products', has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. Decided to recall a total of 1307 new-generation K3 plug-in hybrid vehicles produced during the period from June 12, 2019 to February 25, 2022 starting from June 11, 2024.
