Chongqing to Build 2040 Ultra-fast Charging Stations by 2025

TapTechNews August 8th news, according to Cai Lian News, at today's Chongqing Convenient Ultra-fast Charging City Construction Summit, Jiang Duntao, the deputy mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, said that it is expected that by 2025, Chongqing will build 2040 ultra-fast charging stations and 4000 ultra-fast charging piles to accelerate the construction of a national first-class convenient ultra-fast charging city.

Jiang Duntao said that currently there are about 500 ultra-fast charging stations under construction and completed in Chongqing, and the number and scale rank among the top in the country. Up to now, a total of 320,000 charging piles have been built in the city, including 36,000 public charging piles and 286,000 personal charging piles, and the average vehicle-to-pile ratio is about 2:1, which is better than the national average level of 2.4:1.

TapTechNews learned from the website of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government that in 2023, the automobile production in Chongqing reached 2.318 million vehicles, ranking the second among all provinces and cities in the country, among which the output of new energy vehicles exceeded 500,000 vehicles and the number of ownership reached 450,000 vehicles. In 2024, the city's new energy vehicle production is planned to exceed 1 million vehicles, and the number of ownership is expected to reach 650,000 vehicles. The local government will also comprehensively consider factors such as ultra-fast charging demand, land resources, and power supply guarantee, and will build 1005 ultra-fast charging stations this year.
