CCTV's 4K/8K OB Van to Broadcast Paris Olympics, Copyright Statement and Enforcement
TapTechNews May 18th news, today, the 4K/8K Ultra HD OB van Chinese Red of China Central Television (CCTV) set off from Beijing and started its journey to France to broadcast the Paris Olympics. This will be the first time that the OB van of CCTV undertakes the 8K public signal production of the Olympic Games overseas.
According to the introduction, the Chinese Red OB van is independently designed and integrated in the strategic pattern of CCTV's 5G + 4K/8K + AI. It has a total length of 17 meters and a width of 2.5 meters. The maximum capacity can accommodate 34 workstations and 5 work areas simultaneously and handle 60 signal sources. In terms of producing 4K/8K Ultra HD pictures, CCTV has been in a world-leading position.
The official also emphasized: As the main broadcasting organization and the international media that won the most broadcasting projects of the Paris Olympics, the broadcasting and reporting scale of the Paris Olympics of CCTV will set a record in history. Through channels, frequencies and new media client terminals, it will broadcast and distribute and process more than 11,000 hours of high-quality event signals, and realize the all-4K8K Ultra HD broadcasting production overseas for the first time. CCTV will invest a production and broadcasting team of more than 2,000 people to undertake the international public signal production of four major events such as gymnastics, table tennis, badminton and rock climbing, with a live broadcast duration of more than 400 hours.

TapTechNews found that CCTV released a copyright statement about the 2024 Paris Olympics on April 17 this year. According to the agreement signed between CCTV and the International Olympic Committee, CCTV has the exclusive all-media rights and sublicense rights in the Chinese mainland and Macau regions of China for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Without the permission of CCTV, no institution or individual may use the audio and video programs and related radio and television signals of the 2024 Paris Olympics in any way such as live broadcast, delayed broadcast, on-demand, round-robin, playback or theater line screening, public place screening, etc. in the Chinese mainland and Macau regions through television, radio, Internet, mobile communication network, IPTV, Internet TV, mobile media TV, various application software and any other audio and video rebroadcasting technology or platform. Without the permission of CCTV, no behavior such as investment promotion and publicity in the name of obtaining the media rights of the 2024 Paris Olympics and providing related advertising resources; and no behavior of any form of unfair competition such as隐性 marketing behavior by virtue of the media rights of the Olympic Games may be carried out.
CCTV will jointly with relevant ministries and commissions and supervision institutions increase the intensity of rights protection, and take effective measures according to law to crack down on the behaviors of infringing the media rights of the 2024 Paris Olympics and using the program resources of CCTV for the 2024 Paris Olympics to engage in unfair competition, and investigate the legal responsibility of the infringing entity according to law.
