China's First All-Green Power Supply Virtual Power Plant Project Goes into Operation

TapTechNews July 20, according to the news from 'China General Nuclear Power Group', on July 18, the virtual power plant in the Ningbo Dongfang Cable Park of CGN officially went into operation, becoming the first all-green power supply virtual power plant project in China. This project has achieved traceable all-green power supply in the industrial park. Through the coordinated operation of photovoltaic, energy storage, charging piles, and industrial loads, it can realize intelligent switching of various power sources referring to real-time economy.

It is introduced that this project is also the first traceable green power supply virtual power plant project in China. It has built a distributed photovoltaic of 12.012 megawatts in the park and is equipped with a 5-megawatt/11.2-megawatt-hour energy storage system, as well as 2 120-kilowatt double-gun DC distributed charging piles and 10 14-kilowatt double-gun AC charging piles. By integrating flexible resources such as photovoltaic, energy storage, and charging piles, it can solve 80% of the daily electricity demand in the park, and the remaining 20% power gap is replenished by the green power of CGN's Zhejiang Tuci Offshore Wind Farm.

Besides, this project has constructed a multi-energy distributed resource integrated management model of source, load, storage, and charging, realizing traceable green power supply 24 hours a day, providing users with clean and reliable power services.

While efficiently using power resources, the CGN virtual power plant demonstration platform can accurately monitor and analyze the daily electricity consumption, power generation, energy storage, and the proportion of green power supply in the park, and manage the intelligent switching of various power sources referring to real-time electricity prices and other information, providing clear and transparent energy use information and significantly improving the project economy.

TapTechNews learned from public information that a virtual power plant is a power coordination management system that realizes the aggregation and coordinated optimization of distributed energy resources such as distributed power sources, energy storage systems, controllable loads, and electric vehicles through advanced information and communication technologies and software systems to participate in the power market and grid operation as a special power plant.
