The format of the 2024 Saudi e-sports World Cup's StarCraft 2 project is rather complicated. TapTechNews simply sorts it out here as follows:

16 players advancing to the main tournament are divided into two groups, A and B. Each group has a double-elimination tournament within, and the top player in each group directly advances to the semi-finals;

The winner between the second in Group A and the second in Group B gets the 3rd semi-final spot;

The 13 main tournament players who didn't get the semi-final spots and 2 players who advanced from the last chance qualifier have a single-elimination showdown (the second in the group who didn't advance to the semi-finals has a bye in the first round) to determine the 4th semi-final spot;

The four semi-final players compete in a single-elimination format to争夺 the final championship.

In the first competition day, Oliveira Li Peinan in Group A was one step behind in the BO5 Terran civil war against the Korean player ByuN and was taken to the match point by the opponent, but he managed to win two consecutive games and advanced to the next round with a 3:2 score.

Li Peinan's next opponent is another Korean Terran player Maru, and the game will kick off at 6:00 PM Beijing time today.
