BYD's Plans in Mexico Factory Site Negotiations and New Pickup Launch

According to TapTechNews on June 21, Bloomberg today released an interview with Jorge Vallejo, the general manager of BYD Mexico, on Tuesday this week. Jorge said that BYD is in the final negotiations on the factory site selection and is expected to officially announce it in the next few months. Meanwhile, the sales volume of BYD in Mexico this year is expected to reach 50,000 units.

It is reported that BYD's plan to build a factory in Mexico will bring about approximately 10,000 jobs to the region, making it on par with several of the largest domestic automakers in Mexico.

TapTechNews Note: The largest auto factory in Mexico is Volkswagen's factory in Puebla, which has 6,100 assembly line workers and 5,000 managers, as well as thousands of employees responsible for parts assembly.

On May 15 this year, BYD launched the first new energy pickup truck, SHARK in Mexico, and the prices of the two versions of the models are approximately $55,000 and $59,000 respectively (converted to USD). For specific information about BYD SHARK, see the detailed report of TapTechNews before.
