Qualcomm to Launch Fourth-Generation Snapdragon 8 Processor with Expected Price Increase
TapTechNews July 6th news, Qualcomm will launch the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8 processor (Snapdragon 8 Gen4) at the Snapdragon Summit in October this year and is expected to be released early next year. This chip is said to increase in price by 25-30% compared to the current third-generation Snapdragon 8 processor.
It is learned that Qualcomm plans to use TSMC's 3-nanometer N3E process in the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8 processor, while the Oryon self-developed core replaces the ARMCPU core used before, which leads the company to need to increase the product price to recover the related costs.
Source YogeshBrar speculates that the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8 processor will increase in price by 25%-30% to $220-$240 (TapTechNews note: currently about $1602-$1748 Yuan). And the price of the third-generation Snapdragon 8 processor is $190-$200 (currently about $1384-$1457 Yuan).
In addition, it was previously reported that Qualcomm is redesigning the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 processor, and the new target frequency is 4.26 GHz. This change is mainly to deal with Apple's M4/A18/Pro processor, which also to some extent confirms the rumor that the chip will increase in price.
