AWS CEO Adam Selipsky to Depart from Amazon

TapTechNews May 15th news, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced on the 14th that Adam Selipsky, CEO of AWS (Amazon Web Services), will leave after a three-year term and will depart from Amazon on June 3. Selipsky, 57, has worked at AWS for 14 years. Under his leadership, AWS has achieved rapid growth, doubling its sales from $45.4 billion in the year before he took office to $90.8 billion in 2023 (approximately RMB 657.92 billion), and operational profit almost doubled to $24.6 billion (approximately RMB 178.1 billion). The leader of AWS is crucial as the cloud computing business accounts for sixty percent of Amazon's overall profit. Matt Garman, current VP of Sales, Marketing, and Global Services, will take over as AWS CEO starting June 3. Although AWS has the largest market share in the US cloud market, its dominance is facing pressure from Microsoft's rapidly growing Azure service, which benefits from AI products provided through cooperation with OpenAI, while Google also launched new AI services at its annual developer conference.
