According to the notice issued under California's WARN (TapTechNews note: Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act, the layoffs will take effect in the week of November 12 (November 11 - 17). The layoffs will affect employees at 16 Qualcomm facilities in San Diego, including the Qualcomm headquarters.

A Qualcomm spokesperson responded: Our leading technologies and product portfolios enable us to execute a diverse strategy. As part of normal business, we prioritize and adjust our investments, resources, and talents to ensure that we can best utilize the unprecedented diverse opportunities ahead.

The report said that this indicates that Qualcomm's decision (referring to the layoffs) is part of a larger business strategy, aiming to shift resources to focus on new opportunities.

On September 18, the second-highest European court confirmed the EU antitrust fine against Qualcomm and slightly reduced it from the original 242 million euros (currently about 1.908 billion yuan) to 238.7 million euros (TapTechNews note: currently about 1.882 billion yuan).
