EInk Yuan Tai and AUO Announce Large Color Electronic Paper Partnership
TapTechNews June 22nd news, electronic paper manufacturer EInk Yuan Tai Technology and display device manufacturer AUO today announced the signing of a large color electronic paper strategic partnership memorandum, where Yuan Tai will provide full-color electronic paper modules, and AUO will provide software and hardware integration technology and key components TFT backplane to jointly launch large color electronic paper displays, landing in multiple smart application fields including retail.
According to the introduction, AUO's Smart Retail Business Group has been cultivating the global retail market through its subsidiaries for a long time, and assisting customers in digital transformation with digital signage, but for some advertising forms that do not require dynamic images, such as short-term promotions, instant discounts and other information, most still rely on forms such as posting paper-printed posters inside and outside the store.
Yuan Tai Technology's EInkSpectra6 color electronic paper provides a digital alternative to paper posters. Combined with AUO's integrated software and hardware platform, chain retailer customers can manage all point-of-purchase marketing (POP) facing consumers in a single cloud platform, comprehensively manage display interfaces including LCD, LED, electronic paper shelf labels, and large color electronic paper displays.
Yuan Tai Technology Chairman Li Zheng-hao once said that under the erosion of the e-book reader market by tablets such as iPad, Yuan Tai relied on collecting patent fees and opened up a new blue ocean in the electronic label field. Although Yuan Tai Technology has a market share of up to 90% in the electronic paper market, its share in the overall retail label market is less than 10%.
According to TapTechNews' report last October, Sharp also showed an ePoster electronic ink screen sign in A2 size (Note: 420mm x 594mm). This sign is made with Yuan Tai Technology's Spectra6 electronic paper.
In terms of parameters, the resolution of EInkSpectra6 color electronic paper has been optimized to 200 PPI, and the contrast ratio is 30:1, which can be used in scenarios from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius.
