The CEO of TIOBE, PaulJansen, said that Python's popularity exceeded 18% for the first time this month, setting a historical record. By comparison, only Java has reached the corresponding 18% milestone so far, but this was already in November 2016.

The runner-up in the ranking, C++, now has a gap of 8% from Python. Although this is only the difference between the first and the second, but this reflects that C++ is difficult to exceed Python for a long time and may be overtaken by the C language.

PaulJansen believes that the current status of Python is undeniable. This month's ranking means that Python is becoming the most popular programming language ever. Although we can currently see competitors such as Rust and Kotlin, these languages still need a long time to become a real threat to Python.
