TapTechNews June 13th news, Apple has introduced a series of new features for the Safari 18 browser in the macOS Sequoia beta update, among which the notable one is the Highlights AI function, which can help users discover online information more easily.
Users can open the Highlights function on the left side of the address bar and quickly call up relevant information of the website from it, such as navigation, summaries or quick links to learn more about people, music, movies and TV shows.
Highlights is currently limited to the US region only, and it is not clear when Apple will expand it to the domestic. In the previous article of TapTechNews, the Highlights function was specifically introduced, and interested users can move to read.
Apple Safari 18 has comprehensively upgraded the reader, and users can now enable this mode on the website by using the 'Reader' button in the address bar. Apple has now introduced new customization options.
After entering the reader mode and clicking this button again, the drop-down menu will let you change the theme (white, off-white, gray, black) and select your favorite font (Athelas, Charter, Georgia, Iowan, NewYork, Palatino, SanFransisco, Seravek and TimesNewRoman).
This drop-down menu can also change the font size (from 50% to 300%), as well as the 'Find...' option to find words or phrases on the page and the button to hide the reader mode.
Apple said that the reader can also provide article summaries and table of contents in the sidebar, but the tech media MacRumors found in actual testing that it is not currently effective, and this feature may require the assistance of Apple Intelligence, which will not be launched until later this year.
After Safari detects a video on the page, it will enable a new video playback mode, which will place the media in the front and middle so that you can resize the window without blocking the video. It will also display system playback controls in the overlay, including Picture-in-Picture, which is very practical.
