At the Connects conference of the Mobile Ecosystem Forum held in December 2023, Tim Atkinson, the business development manager of Google in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, was asked if Apple would enable RBM (RCS Business Messaging).

He was unable to comment on Apple's plans at that time, but he disclosed that Apple will support the Universal Profile 2.4 of RBM.

Apple announced in November 2023 that it will adapt the RCS messaging solution in 2024.

And previously, the news said that it was because new mobile phones entering the network in China need to support 5G messaging, so Apple decided to introduce the RCS message standard for iMessage, and the confirmed version content also matches the existing information.

TapTechNews checks public information:

5G messaging is based on the GSMA Universal Profile business standard, and the current business deployment is implemented with the 2.4 version. On the one hand, it upgrades to support multiple media formats in the message content; on the other hand, it introduces a new message-based human-computer interaction mode and builds a unified and trusted information service entry.

As a communication service provided by carriers, 5G messaging upgrades the original short message and multimedia messaging application on the terminal side and provides a native experience without the need to download an App.
