The highlight of this event is the Goodwood Hillclimb, with a track that is only 1.89 kilometers long and a climb height of 92.7 meters. This track is not that difficult, but more to show classic racing cars and unique racing charm.

This year, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has attracted many electric vehicles to come and exhibit, including the highly anticipated MG Cyberster electric sports car, the Carmen Sagrera with 1114 horsepower, the concept car BST released by Polestar, and the 6 Concept that debuted in the hillclimb. Many electric vehicles participated in the hillclimb, but some were just to show performance and did not compete for the fastest lap time.

While some other racing cars will participate in the time trial called shootout to compete for the fastest climbing time. In the past 20 years, the fastest climbing record has been held by the 1998 V10 F1 racing car driven by Nick Heidfeld. Until 2019, Romain Dumas driving Volkswagen's ID.R electric racing car broke this record. In 2022, Max Chilton driving the electric racing car McMurtry Spierling with a huge fan to provide downforce improved the record to 39.08 seconds.

This year, although no players challenged the fastest record, the competition between the two brands Subaru and Ford was particularly noticeable. Subaru sent the modified WRX Project Midnight driven by Scott Speed, which is equipped with a 670-horsepower horizontally opposed four-cylinder gasoline engine; Ford brought the highly modified electric super van SuperVan with 1400 horsepower, driven by the former record holder Romain Dumas.

In the qualifying round, the two cars were evenly matched, with SuperVan taking a 0.1-second lead over WRX (45.0 seconds vs 45.1 seconds), and the final showdown was staged on Sunday.

The result of Sunday's competition was not in doubt, SuperVan easily defeated Subaru WRX with a time of 43.98 seconds (46.07 seconds). TapTechNews noted that this is not the first brilliant performance of SuperVan. Ford also drove it to set a new record on the Bathurst track before and achieved good results in last year's Pikes Peak Hillclimb.

It is worth mentioning that racing cars usually do not adopt a bulky van body design, and lightweight is one of the important factors for racing cars. The fact that Ford SuperVan with such a huge body can achieve such excellent results is amazing for its powerful power performance.
