XPeng Motors Expands XNGP's Urban Road Mileage

TapTechNews May 28th news, XPeng Motors officially announced today that thanks to the end-to-end AI large model that iterates once every 2 days, the newly-expanded available mileage of XNGP urban roads in Shandong, Hebei, and Anhui provinces this week has exceeded 45,177 miles (about 72,800 kilometers), adding 15 cities including Shijiazhuang, Yantai, and Weihai.

TapTechNews noted that previously, XPeng Motors' CEO He Xiaopeng stated that in the third quarter of this year, XNGP will not only be able to be driven in all cities across the country, but also aims to be drivable on every road. The onboarding of the end-to-end large model means that the subsequent autonomous driving capabilities may have a multiple-level improvement every quarter, and by revising the manual rule programming method to the model's training and inference use, then the software and AI upgrades of XPeng Motors will enter from the original platform construction to a super-fast upgrade cycle, and will evolve monthly in the future, and the driving experience of XNGP will increase rapidly. XPeng plans to make the urban intelligent driving experience catch up with the current high-speed NGP experience by 2025, that is, it can achieve the level of needing to take over only once every several hundred miles in the city.

XPeng's XNGP is the second-generation intelligent assisted driving system independently developed by XPeng Motors. It not only includes high-speed NGP but also has urban NGP functions. The X in XNGP represents the English name XPENG of XPeng Motors, and NGP indicates navigation-assisted driving. Although XNGP is ahead of the industry, it still belongs to the L2+ level, close to the L3 level of autonomous driving.
