Nintendo's 2025 Fiscal Year First Quarter Report Sales and Profits Decline

TapTechNews August 2nd news, Nintendo today released the report of the first quarter of fiscal year 2025 (April 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024). The net sales were 246.64 billion yen (TapTechNews note: currently about 11.948 billion yuan), decreasing by 46.5% year-on-year, and the estimated was 314.21 billion yen. The net profit in the first quarter was 80.95 billion yen (currently about 3.922 billion yuan), decreasing by 55.3% year-on-year, and the estimated was 83.52 billion yen.

Nintendo expects the net sales in fiscal year 2025 (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025) to be 1.35 trillion yen (currently about 65.399 billion yuan), decreasing by 19.3% year-on-year. The net profit is 300 billion yen (currently about 14.533 billion yuan), decreasing by 38.9% year-on-year. Nintendo still expects the annual Switch hardware sales to be 13.5 million units.

In the Switch business of the first quarter of fiscal year 2025 (from April to June), the sales of Paper Mario RPG released in May was 1.76 million copies, and the sales of Luigi's Mansion 2 HD released in June was 1.19 million copies. The number of million-selling games in fiscal year 2025 is 3, including the games of software manufacturers. The hardware sales is 2.1 million sets, and the software sales is 30.64 million sets.

In the first quarter of fiscal year 2024, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (released in May 2023) was the main driving force for hardware and software sales. Therefore, compared with the same period last year, the hardware sales decreased by 46.3%, and the software sales decreased by 41.3%.

In addition, in terms of mobile and IP-related revenues, due to the popularity of The Super Mario Bros. Movie (released in April 2023) last year, the sales increased significantly in the same period last year. But this year due to the decline in movie-related sales, the net sales in fiscal year 2025 is 14.7 billion yen, a 53.8% decrease from the same period last year.
