Kia Unveils Upgraded EV6 Electric Vehicle with Improved Range and Design Features

TapTechNews May 14 news, after three years, Kia's EV6 electric vehicle has been redesigned, with upgrades in range, configuration, and exterior design.

As Kia's first all-electric vehicle built on the modern E-GMP platform, the EV6 was launched in March 2021. With the release of next-generation electric vehicles such as EV3, EV4, and EV5 last year, the upgrade of the EV6 is essential to incorporate Kia's latest family design language.

In terms of appearance, one of the most eye-catching upgrades of the new EV6 is the use of Kia's StarMapSignatureLighting new daytime running lights, a design that has been used in models such as the EV9 and EV5.

The new car also features a more dynamic wing-shaped bumper design and redesigned wheel hubs, and the rear of the car also features star map-like taillights that echo the front design, also using a similar wing-shaped design.

The battery capacity of the new EV6 has been increased from the previous 77.4kWh to 84kWh. Thanks to the application of fourth-generation battery technology, the Korean market version of the new EV6 has a range of up to 494 kilometers, an increase from the previous model's 475 kilometers. At the same time, due to the increase in energy density, the new model's charging speed is also faster. Through 350 kW fast charging, the new EV6 can charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.

In terms of power, the new car will offer consumers a choice of single motor and dual motor power, with the rear single motor having a maximum power of 168 kW and peak torque of 350 Nm; the dual motor four-wheel drive version has a total power of 239 kW and peak torque of 605 Nm.

In terms of interior, the new EV6 is equipped with Kia's latest ccNC information and entertainment system, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, the new system also integrates features such as remote smart parking assist 2nd generation and voice recognition based on SDV technology.

Kia has also improved the driving comfort of the new EV6 by using frequency sensing shock absorbers and an optimized motor noise control system to create a more quiet driving environment. And with the addition of new elements such as the panoramic curved display, redesigned steering wheel, and upgraded wireless charging panel, the interior space of the new EV6 has also become more luxurious and modern.

In the Korean market, the starting price of the new EV6 Long Range and Light models is 55.4 million Korean won (approximately 29.3 million RMB), the starting price of the Air model is 58.24 million Korean won (approximately 30.8 million RMB), and the starting price of the Earth model is 62.52 million Korean won (approximately 33.1 million RMB).

The new EV6 also introduces the GT-Line version with a sporty exterior, exclusive 20-inch wheels, and a new front LED light strip, with a starting price of 63.15 million Korean won (approximately 33.4 million RMB). The new EV6 is expected to be launched for sale in June.

For reference, the current Kia EV6 has 4 models available in the Chinese market with prices ranging from 282,800 to 439,800 RMB.
