In South Korea, The Scale of Cross-Border E-Commerce Overseas Shopping Exceeds 2 Trillion Won in Q2, with Chinese Products Dominating

TapTechNews August 2nd news, Yonhap News Agency reported that according to the statistical data released by the Korean Statistical Office yesterday, the cross-border e-commerce online shopping (overseas online shopping) scale in the second quarter of South Korea exceeded 2 trillion South Korean won for the first time (TapTechNews note: currently about 10.52 billion yuan). The proportion of Chinese products exceeded 60% for the first time.

Among the top three overseas online shopping markets in South Korea, China ranked first, and the transaction volume increased significantly by 64.8% year-on-year, reaching 1.24 trillion South Korean won (currently about 6.522 billion yuan).

It is reported that this is mainly because Chinese cross-border e-commerce platforms such as AliExpress and Temu attract a large number of South Korean overseas online shopping groups with price advantages. The overseas online shopping proportion of Chinese products also exceeded 60% for the first time, reaching 61.4%. While in the same period of last year, it was only 46.8%, increasing by 14.6 percentage points in just one year.

The overseas online shopping market from South Korea to the United States decreased by 9.2% year-on-year to 424.9 billion South Korean won (currently about 2.235 billion yuan), accounting for 21.1%; the transaction volume of the overseas online shopping market to Japan was 134.6 billion South Korean won (currently about 708 million yuan), increasing by 16.4% year-on-year, accounting for 6.7%.
