MediaTek Launches Kompanio 838 Processor for Chromebooks

TapTechNews May 31, MediaTek today launched the Kompanio (迅鲲) 838 processor.

MediaTek stated that this 6nm process SoC is targeted at the mid-to-high-end Chromebook market. Compared with Kompanio 500 series products, its graphics performance is increased by up to 76%, and in the CPU benchmark test, it is increased by up to 66%, and in the Web benchmark test, it is increased by up to 60%.

CPU: 8-core design, 2 * Arm Cortex-A78 @ 2.6 GHz + 6 * Arm Cortex-A55 @ 2.0 GHz;

GPU: Arm Mali-G57 MC3;

AI processor: NPU 650, computing power 4 TOPS;

Memory: 64-bit width, supports LPDDR4x-3733, DDR4-3200;

Storage: eMMC 5.1;

Display output: 4K 60 + 4K 30;

Video encoding: H.264, HEVC (H.265);

Video decoding: H.264, HEVC, VP-9, AV1;

Camera: Imagiq 7 series ISP, supports 16MP + 16MP @ 30 FPS, and the recording resolution is 3840 x 2160;

External interface: PCIe x1, 1 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0.

In addition, the Kompanio 838 processor supports 2x2 Wi-Fi antennas, and the Wi-Fi connection rate is up to 1.9 Gbps.
