It is introduced that the first two generations of "Jianzhen" were all developed by Japanese shipyards. The current second-generation "New Jianzhen", which has been in operation since April 1994, replaced the first-generation "Jianzhen" that started to operate between Shanghai, Osaka and Kobe in 1985.

And this third-generation "Jianzhen" delivered this time was completely independently developed, designed and built by Chinese shipyards. It can carry 192 passengers, has a total tonnage of about 20,000 tons, a designed speed of 21 knots, and can load 338 containers (60 refrigerated containers), and is classed by the China Classification Society (CCS).

The ship signed a construction contract in August 2022, went on the slipway and laid the keel in June 2023, launched in November of the same year, and is planned to be put into operation in June 2024, and will become the most intelligent, advanced and greenest liner RoPax ship on the China-Japan route (Shanghai - Osaka / Kobe).

It is introduced that this ship is the first passenger RoPax ship independently developed in China to meet the requirements of the damage stability of the SOLAS 2020 convention and meets the requirements of the passenger ship safe return to port; it is the first passenger RoPax ship independently developed in China to meet the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase III of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in advance, and has applied for the G-ECO (CD42, COM) green ecological ship class symbol of the CCS.

The "Jianzhen" has especially set up a medium-voltage shore power system and has applied for the high-voltage shore power (AMPS) system class symbol of the CCS, so that the ship can achieve energy conservation and emission reduction during berthing and reduce the risk of environmental pollution.

In terms of prevention and control, this ship has especially set up an emergency isolation room, an independent air conditioning system and a sewage discharge pipe system, which can temporarily place the diagnosed or suspected people of infectious diseases in the event of an infectious disease epidemic, reducing the risk of epidemic spread.

The ship has also specially built an intelligent integration platform, through satellite communication, 4G / 5G and other multi-channel ship-shore communication links, to realize the centralized management and processing of ship-shore data, providing an efficient, stable and safe data environment and software operating envir onment for intelligent energy efficiency management, intelligent engine room and intelligent navigation.

TapTechNews learned that this year coincides with the 50th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Shanghai and Osaka, and this ship is also a friendly gift.

The naming of "Jianzhen" also has a special meaning. Jianzhen is a Tang Dynasty monk, vulgar surname Chunyu, from Jiangyang County, Yangzhou, Jiangsu. He has traveled eastward to Japan six times, not only bringing Buddhist scriptures to Japan, but also promoting the spread of Chinese culture to Japan. In terms of Buddhism, medicine, calligraphy, etc., Jianzhen has a profound influence on Japan.
