【11:36 Update】: According to China Business News, the business lines involved in the closure of this R & D department mainly include two, one is the IBM China Development Center (CDL), and the other is the IBM China System Center (CSL), mainly responsible for R & D and testing. IBM will provide N+3 compensation for relevant employees.

TapTechNews on August 26, it was reported by China Business News that IBM China has confirmed that it will completely close the Chinese R & D department, involving the number of employees more than 1,000 people. When responding to the news of R & D department layoffs, IBM China said: IBM will adjust its operations as needed to provide the best service to customers, and these changes will not affect our ability to provide support to customers in the Greater China region.

Last Saturday (24th), some media quoted the news of IBM Chinese employees saying that the company closed the access rights of IBM Chinese R & D and testing post employees on Friday night (the 23rd night). A laboratory technical employee said that before the access rights were closed, the company's employees went to and from work normally, without any omen or signal, and some technical employees were still in overtime status.

These employees have been removed from the product group of the communication software and cannot log in to the company intranet through VPN, but can still access emails. IBM China has multiple branches, and the employees whose rights have been revoked this time belong to IBMV, including CDL (IBM China Development Center) and CSL (IBM China System Center), mainly responsible for R & D and testing.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the above-mentioned employees said that according to their understanding, the access rights of R & D and testing post employees in various places including Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian and so on have all been revoked, involving the number of people about more than one thousand people; the after-sales and consulting departments still hold access rights normally. Employees still don't know the reason why the company made this move. At present, the latest news is that the company has informed the employees whose rights have been revoked to have a conversation next Monday and participate in the online meeting.
