Geely Group's Intelligent Cockpit Business Adjustment and Future Outlook

TapTechNews August 21st news, according to LatePost Auto, within the Geely Group system, there has been an executive adjustment for the intelligent cockpit business.

ECARX Executive Vice President Du Ping and Geely Automobile Central Research Institute Vice President Xia Huan swapped business responsibilities. Du Ping was transferred to the Geely Research Institute, and Xia Huan joined ECARX. Currently, Geely's adjustment of the intelligent cockpit business has not been finally completed.

Du Ping is one of the heads of ECARX's cockpit business and joined ECARX in 2020, and was once in charge of the intelligent vehicle product development and delivery division. ECARX is an automotive intelligentization supplier, with Li Shufu and his family holding more than 50%, and Chairman Shen Ziyu holding 7.2%.

Xia Huan serves as the vice president of the Geely Research Institute and is also the director of the Intelligent Cockpit and Cloud Platform Center, and is the head of the intelligent cockpit. The Geely Central Research Institute is the technical middle platform within Geely. While they conduct excavation and pre-research on supply chain innovation projects and cutting-edge technologies, they also output capabilities to Geely-owned brands such as Volvo, Lotus, and Polestar.

In the supply team of the intelligent cockpit solution, currently, Geely's various brands have multiple choices:

One is the cooperation plan between ECARX and Xingji Meizu. The former provides the computing platform, and the latter provides the in-vehicle networking system FlymeAuto, combined into a set of software and hardware systems. This plan is applied to models such as Galaxy E5, Lynk & Co 08, and Lynk & Co 07.

The second choice is the cockpit system independently developed by the Geely Research Institute and the brand, such as the intelligent cockpit system LYNKOSN of Lynk & Co models.

Currently, both systems are being updated. One system comes from within Geely's internal organization, and the other from Li Shufu and his family's holding company. After the swap of the two executives of the Geely Research Institute and ECARX, how the two teams will cooperate and merge, TapTechNews will also continue to pay attention and bring follow-up reports.
