The official pointed out that the Mingyang 16.6 MW floating offshore wind power demonstration project in Yangjiang is located in the sea area near Shapa Town, Yangxi County, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, and is a national 14th Five-Year Plan energy technology innovation research project. This project adopts the world's leading floating technology and typhoon-resistant design, which can adapt to the extreme sea conditions of up to Category 17 typhoon. At the same time, it has the characteristics of the largest single-unit capacity in the world, the lightest weight per megawatt, and strong typhoon resistance, which is an offshore wind power project of epoch-making significance.

Mingyang Tiancheng is independently developed by Mingyang Group. The two towers are arranged in a V shape and equipped with two 8.3 MW offshore wind turbines, with a total capacity of 16.6 MW. It can be applied to the global wide sea area with a water depth of more than 35 meters and has achieved many global firsts.

In addition, Mingyang Tiancheng is also the world's first wind turbine with a downwind design, which can reduce the ultimate load of the support structure by about 40%. The highest point of its rotor is 219 meters, and the maximum width in the air is about 369 meters, making it the largest twin-rotor floating wind turbine in the world.

TapTechNews learned through the official that the total drainage of the entire wind power platform of Mingyang Tiancheng is about 15,000 tons, and the overall towage design draft is 5.5 meters; it is equipped with more than 3000 intelligent sensors. Through multi-sensor data fusion technologies such as video, image, audio, displacement, temperature, vibration, stress, voltage, current, wind speed, and wind direction, it can sense the operating status of more than 2000 parts in real time.
