China's C929 Intercontinental Airliner Makes Progress in Development

TapTechNews reported on May 12th that there is new progress in China's independently developed first intercontinental airliner C929.

Deputy Director of the Shanghai Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Center of Civil Aviation, and leader of the C919 aircraft model qualification approval review group, Jie Yuwen, stated on the 9th that COMAC is conducting relevant work before applying for airworthiness, and is expected to submit a type certificate application to the Civil Aviation Administration by the end of the year. The Shanghai Certification Center is also participating in early research, laying a foundation for better standards and discovering technical problems.

According to the Hong Kong Commercial Daily, Tong Yu, Deputy General Manager of COMAC Customer Service Company, stated that the C929 is steadily advancing in preliminary design, and believes that the prototype of the C929 will be seen in the near future. Tong Yu also estimated that the C929 test flight may come very soon, and has begun preparations for airworthiness approval work, planning to submit an application to the Civil Aviation Administration by the end of this year.

TapTechNews noted that last month, COMAC announced that the C929 project's joint tackling launching conference was held at the COMAC. Experts in attendance were divided into six special-topic groups, including overall aerodynamics, fuselage structure, composite materials structure, avionics, mechanical systems, and propulsion system, and conducted a week-long discussion.

The C929 is China's first jetliner independently developed in accordance with international airworthiness standards and has independent intellectual property rights. The basic C929 model has a seating capacity of 280, a range of 12,000 kilometers, and can widely meet the demand of the global international and regional airline passenger market.
