In fact, the name LaJolla first appeared in a Meta internal hardware road map exposed by TheVerge in March 2023. This road map not only accurately described products such as Quest 3, but also revealed that the QuestPro2 project originally scheduled for release in 2024 was canceled, and instead a more ambitious but far-fetched project code-named LaJolla.

According to this road map, LaJolla will be equipped with a higher-resolution display, support the CodecAvatars realistic avatar technology, and continue the rear battery design of QuestPro. It is reported that Mark Rabkin, vice president of Meta's VR department, said: We hope to make it have a higher resolution in order to facilitate work use, especially in aspects such as text display to the extreme.
