According to a report released today by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) and featured on TapTechNews on May 11th, here are the automotive industry production and sales data for April 2024.
In April, automobile production and sales were 2.406 million units and 2.359 million units respectively, a month-on-month decrease of 10.5% and 12.5%, and a year-on-year increase of 12.8% and 9.3%.
From January to April, automobile production and sales totaled 9.012 million and 9.079 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 7.9% and 10.2%. Production growth accelerated by 1.5 percentage points compared to the first three months, whereas sales growth slightly declined by 0.3 percentage points.
In April, domestic auto sales reached 1.855 million units, a 15.4% decrease month-on-month, but a 4.1% increase year-on-year; auto exports were 504,000 units, increasing by 0.4% month-on-month and 34% year-on-year.
From January to April, domestic auto sales amounted to 7.252 million units, up 5.6% year-on-year; auto exports reached 1.827 million units, up 33.4% year-on-year.
For new energy vehicles (NEVs), April production and sales were 870,000 units and 850,000 units respectively, showing year-on-year increases of 35.9% and 33.5% with a market share of 36%.
From January to April, NEV production and sales were 2.985 million units and 2.94 million units respectively, registering year-on-year increases of 30.3% and 32.3% with a market share of 32.4%.
In April, domestic NEV sales were 736,000 units, a 2.9% decrease month-on-month but a 37.3% increase year-on-year; NEV exports were 114,000 units, decreasing by 8.6% month-on-month but increasing by 13.3% year-on-year.
From January to April, domestic NEV sales were 2.52 million units, up 34.4% year-on-year; NEV exports were 421,000 units, up 20.8% year-on-year.
