Microsoft Withdraws Windows 11 Build 26236 Preview Update
On June 21, TapTechNews reported that Microsoft updated its support documentation and announced the temporary withdrawal of the Windows 11 Build 26236 preview update in the Canary channel. Judging from various indications, Microsoft's withdrawal this time is to deal with the Recall function.
TapTechNews reported on June 13 that in the Windows 11 Build 26236 preview update, the Recall function can be enabled. Users can directly select words or phrases on the current screenshot and search for relevant information through the default browser.
In addition, developer Alexander S found that a new page has been added to the Privacy and Security section of the Settings app. Users can manage the access rights of generative AI on this page and view the records of generative AI requests in the past 7 days to better control privacy and system behavior.
Microsoft's Windows 11 Build 26241 update released yesterday (June 20) has already removed the related functions.
Typically, if users want to download and install an older version of the Insider Build, they can use UUPDump. This website will list all Builds and thereby provide download scripts to convert them to ISOs.
However, when the tech media tomshardware tried to obtain the download script of 26236.5000 through UUPDump, it found an error message indicating that the file has been deleted from Microsoft's server.
Apparently, due to the controversial Recall function, Microsoft has withdrawn the Windows 11 Build 26236 preview update and does not want anyone to use it at this stage.
