According to Google's official support documentation cited by TapTechNews, the Chrome browser has already introduced the 'Identity Credential API' which can store relevant identity documents such as passports, ID cards, and driver's licenses in a secure space.

Developers can call the 'Identity Credential API' in the Android system through the tested 'Digital Certificate API' to allow websites to request real identity information from the wallet through the Android's IdentityCredentialCredMan system, so that users do not need to manually upload files and websites can securely verify the user's identity.

Google said in the support documentation

Government-recognized documents play an important and constructive role in society (such as driver's licenses, passports, etc.).

With the online shift of government and financial services, and the strengthening of regulations (such as e-ID systems and various age verification regulations), these paper documents are also being digitized.

This new feature allows websites to request identity information directly from the user's mobile wallet using the secure system called IdentityCredential.

When a website needs your identity information (such as a digital driver's license), the API will send a request through the Chrome browser and the user will see the request and choose whether to approve.

If approved, the Android system will securely send the necessary information in the wallet to the requesting website, sharing only the necessary information, and users can control the information shared.
