TapTechNews, June 14th. At the WWDC24 (Worldwide Developers Conference), Apple updated the HDR function.
Apple introduced a new HDR standard, Adaptive HDR (Adaptive High Dynamic Range), which is backward compatible with SDR systems, decoders and applications, and stores SDR and HDR information in a single file, capable of mapping between HDR and SDR to adapt to different displays.
For the iPhone 15 series, after upgrading to iOS 18, the camera will use the Adaptive HDR standard.
Previously, only the Photos App supported HDR display. After upgrading to iOS 18 or macOS 15, functions like Messages, Quick Look, and Preview now support correct rendering and display of HDR photos, and the performance of photos is more consistent in different scenarios.
In addition, the new system's screenshots and screen recordings now support HDR.
TapTechNews noticed that Apple also mentioned that the ISOHDR launched last year was the first standard for HDR photography, and Apple played an active role in its development, and Apple's ecosystem already supports ISOHDR.
