Mosaic's X Platform Fined in Australia for Child Safety Breach

TapTechNews October 5th news, the tech media NeoWin released a blog post yesterday (October 4th), reporting that Mosaic's X platform (formerly known as Twitter) was fined 610,500 Australian dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 2.933 million RMB) by an Australian court for not complying with and properly deploying child safety measures.

TapTechNews quoted the media report that the conflict between the two can be traced back to the period when Musk privatized the Twitter platform. The Australian e-Safety Commissioner asked about the platform's strategy for combating child sexual exploitation materials, but the X platform said that after the company's reorganization, it was exempt from regulatory obligations in Australia and argued that the company no longer needed to respond to such inquiries.

The court rejected X's defense. Julie Inman Grant, the e-Safety Commissioner, said that if X's defense was established, it would set a precedent that companies could avoid regulatory responsibilities by simply merging with another entity.
