CATL Chairman Confirms No Plan to Acquire Photovoltaic Firms

TapTechNews September 27th news, Zeng Yuqun, the chairman of CATL, confirmed to Interface News today that CATL is not considering acquiring photovoltaic enterprises including YiDao New Energy. Previously, there were rumors that CATL planned to acquire YiDao New Energy and other domestic photovoltaic module manufacturers.

Earlier this month, some domestic media reported that CATL is seeking to acquire photovoltaic module and photovoltaic cell companies, and is negotiating the acquisition with photovoltaic module manufacturer YiDao New Energy. YiDao New Energy was established in 2018, and in the first half of this year, ranked 8th in the global photovoltaic module shipments. Insiders also said that before contacting YiDao, CATL had tried to acquire 51% of the shares of another photovoltaic module manufacturer Runyang Shares with 4 billion Chinese yuan, but the leading photovoltaic company Tongwei Shares took the lead with 50 billion Chinese yuan, setting a record for the merger and acquisition amount in the history of China's photovoltaic industry.
