Visionox to Build 8.6-Generation OLED Panel Line in Hefei with $55 Billion Investment

TapTechNews May 28th news, Visionox just announced an announcement, declaring that it has signed an investment cooperation memorandum with the Hefei Municipal Government, and the two parties will invest in the construction of an 8.6-generation OLED panel production line in Hefei, with an expected total investment of 55 billion US dollars. The announcement shows that the design capacity of Visionox's 8.6-generation OLED panel production line in Hefei is 32,000 substrates per month.

This will be the second high-generation OLED panel production line invested and built by Chinese mainland enterprises after BOE invested 6.3 billion US dollars to build an 8.6-generation OLED panel production line in Chengdu. This means that Chinese mainland panel manufacturers are actively seizing the market opportunities of medium-sized OLED displays such as IT and automotive, and want to further narrow the gap with Korean enterprises in this field.

TapTechNews noted that there was news two years ago that Visionox planned to invest in the construction of an 8.6-generation OLED production line, and was considering places such as Chengdu or Shenzhen at that time.

The public information shows that Visionox's 6th generation (1500x1850mm) is semi-cut vertical deposition, and the 8.6-generation (2250x2600mm) is considering the semi-cut deposition technology, and the 6th generation line has already been installed in the Hefei V3 line.

At present, the 6th generation line of Visionox mainly produces 6-inch smartphone OLED panels, but it has an advantage in cost for producing 10-to-20-inch tablet/laptop OLED on the 8th generation line.
