TikTok's Overseas Move into Local Life Services

According to TapTechNews' previous report, in 2023, the total transaction volume of the Douyin Life Services platform increased by 256%, the live streaming transaction volume increased by 5.7 times, covering more than 370 cities and involving more than 4.5 million stores. It is said that the Douyin Life Services sales team completed a new round of organizational structure adjustment in April to try to cover more small and medium-sized merchants and shorten the gap with competitors.

A person close to TikTok revealed that the platform's intention to do local life overseas has been there for a long time, but the local supply chain is relatively difficult to do, so it has been building infrastructure.

Relevant practitioners said that TikTok's local life services business is still in the internal testing stage, and only some users can brush relevant group buying packages in the information stream, mainly for catering merchants.

On the TikTok recruitment website, dozens of recruitment information related to local life services appeared, and the work locations are distributed in Singapore, Jakarta (the capital of Indonesia) and Bangkok (the capital of Thailand), and the positions involve ecological governance, strategic analysis, product manager, and BD (business development) sales, etc.

Taking the business development supervisor position in the Jakarta office as an example, the job description mentioned that the work content of this position includes conducting commercial expansion from 0 to 1 in the catering, tourism and other industries, finding key partners, and providing integrated marketing solutions for customers, etc.
