TapTechNews noticed that this data comes from the automotive data analysis agency Edmunds, which has indeed provided many valuable car trading and test data before, but the above sales data has a fatal flaw: only from traditional car dealers and only includes replacement vehicles. Since Tesla adopts a direct sales model and is not sold through traditional dealer channels, Edmunds' data cannot fully reflect the true purchasing behavior of Tesla owners.

EVBuyersGuide cited data from S&PGlobal, showing that the actual situation is very different from Edmunds' data. S&PGlobal's data not only includes new car registration information but also tracks the deregistration situation, which can better reflect the overall market situation, including those owners who bought another Tesla, changed cars after a total loss without replacement, and privately traded vehicles.

S&PGlobal's data shows that as high as 70% of Tesla owners choose to buy Tesla again, showing amazing brand loyalty. Another 10% turned to other electric vehicle brands, among which Rivian won 9.8% of Tesla users. Only 13% of Tesla owners replaced their Tesla with a fuel car, among the remaining buyers, 4% bought a hybrid vehicle, 2% bought a plug-in hybrid vehicle, and 1% bought a diesel vehicle.

It is worth noting that due to Tesla's rapid rise in recent years and a significant increase in market share, this data may have certain limitations. But one thing is clear: the vast majority of Tesla owners have not returned to fuel cars.
