Huawei Launches Campus Network Initiative with F5G All-Optical Campus 2.0

TapTechNews July 5th news, today, Huawei officially launched the pioneer action of Optical Fiber Advancement and Copper Retreat in campus networks. For this, Huawei not only launched the F5G all-optical campus 2.0 solution, but also announced that it will invest 50 million yuan in marketing resources to fully support partners to seize the great opportunity of Optical Fiber Advancement and Copper Retreat in campus networks.

Chen Banghua, President of Huawei's Optical Product Line, pointed out that Optical Fiber Advancement and Copper Retreat is spreading from homes to campuses. Wi-Fi 7 is the key technology for the campus network to upgrade to 10-gigabit, which can realize a large bandwidth wireless access from 3 Gbps to 18 Gbps.

At present, most of the campuses use ordinary copper-based network cables, which cannot support the high-speed rate requirement of Wi-Fi 7 at all. In the Wi-Fi 7 era, the network cables must be replaced with optical fibers. The optical fiber has huge bandwidth capacity and can support up to 100 Tbps. After one wiring, it can support continuous bandwidth upgrade in the next 30 years. Therefore, in the Wi-Fi 7 era, the Optical Fiber Advancement and Copper Retreat in the campus becomes inevitable.

For this reason, Huawei has launched the F5G all-optical campus 2.0 solution. Compared with the traditional 3-layer switching architecture of the traditional solution, only 2 layers of equipment in the central machine room and the user end are needed, and the active equipment is replaced by a passive splitter in the middle to achieve an 80% reduction in wiring cost and a 30% reduction in network energy consumption.

TapTechNews learned from Huawei's official that this solution is based on XGS-PON Pro+Wi-Fi 7 technology, which realizes a 25% bandwidth increase compared to the industry, and supports 12.5G/25Gbps to the room to meet the connection requirements of multiple Wi-Fi 7; through the hard isolation slicing technology, one network can simultaneously carry multiple businesses such as production, office, and campus management, and the TCO saves 30%; in terms of operation and maintenance, the unified network management NCE-Campus can manage both optical and IP equipment at the same time, realizing the distribution of services within minutes and end-to-end guarantee, and one person can manage an entire campus network.

Huawei gave an example that for an F5G all-optical hospital, the F5G all-optical campus 2.0 can achieve a hundredfold increase in bandwidth, and the film reading can be loaded in seconds, and the reception efficiency is increased by 50%. Based on the zero roaming technology of the optical network, the mobile ward round PDA is fully online all the time, and the ward round efficiency is increased by 60%.

For an F5G all-optical hotel, this solution can realize one room, one optical fiber and one terminal, further simplifying the architecture and saving investment. For an F5G all-optical factory, based on a flexible and reliable industrial network, the goal of intelligent manufacturing to improve quality and efficiency is achieved.

According to the introduction, Huawei's F5G all-optical campus solution has currently been applied in more than 8000 campuses worldwide. For example, the all-optical campus network of Central South University covers 60,000 teachers and students, ensuring a 1000 M access bandwidth for each user. Compared to the traditional solution, the comprehensive cost is reduced by 30%, and the construction cycle is shortened by 75%.
