Toyota to Introduce Gigacast Technology in 2024 and Updates on Its Hybridization

TapTechNews August 20th news, according to the Nikkei News report today, Toyota Motor Corporation will introduce the integrated die-casting Gigacast technology for integrated body parts in the factory in Aichi Prefecture in 2024, which will be used for the prototype production of electric vehicle parts.

It is reported that Toyota is preparing for full-scale electric vehicle production by accelerating the introduction of the latest equipment, and one-third of the body can be molded in 3 minutes. Gigacast has reduced the cost of electric vehicles and has been adopted by companies such as Tesla.

TapTechNews reported on August 16th that two senior executives of Toyota also revealed that nearly thirty years after the launch of the first gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle Prius, the company is proceeding to convert most of the fuel models of Toyota and Lexus into pure hybrid models, and eventually it is expected to achieve the hybridization of all models.

In the domestic aspect, GAC Toyota's sales volume in July 2024 was 53,600 units, compared to 70,000 units in the same period last year, a decrease of 23.43%; the cumulative sales volume this year is 336,000 units, compared to 522,800 units in the cumulative last year, a decrease of 25.48%.
