China's Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation Undertakings Make Great Progress

TapTechNews August 20th news, according to CCTV News, China is accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the surveying, mapping and geoinformation undertakings, and has achieved full coverage of the land territory with topographic maps of 1:50,000 and smaller scales.

The Ministry of Natural Resources stated that China has abundant spatial and geographical data resources. Currently, topographic maps of 1:50,000 and smaller scales have achieved full coverage of the land territory, and topographic maps of the 1:500 to 1:10,000 series have achieved the necessary coverage of the land territory. A series of spatial and geographical databases have been built and regularly updated, accumulating massive data resources.

Chen Jun, deputy director of the Land Surveying and Mapping Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources, said: Since 2022, about 7 million square kilometers of topographic-level, city-level, and component-level real-scene three-dimensional models with different levels of refinement have been cumulatively built. Basically completed a 'one-network' of the national satellite navigation and positioning reference stations based on the Beidou, with the ability to provide a unified national surveying and mapping reference service for various surveying and mapping activities.

TapTechNews noted that the next step of the natural resources system will strengthen the supply of real-scene three-dimensional data, establish a new generation of the national surveying and mapping reference system, build a spatial and geographical data resource system integrating above and below ground, land and sea areas, two and three dimensions, continuously improve the coverage, refinement, freshness, and richness, and stimulate application demands, construct multi-dimensional digital application scenarios to support the development of industries such as the digital economy, low-altitude economy, and autonomous driving.
