TapTechNews reported on June 5 that after Microsoft updated the Windows 11 Photos (Photos) application to 2024.11050.3002.0, the biggest highlight is that it migrated the UWP platform to the Windows App SDK, but one of the side effects is that the opening time is longer than before.

One of the side effects after switching to the Windows App SDK is that the application opening time will show a ready screen for about 20 seconds before entering the home page that contains all the photos.

Microsoft obviously hopes to shorten this part of the time. In the latest 2024.11060.27001.0 version, a Performance option is introduced, which can allow the Microsoft Photos application to run in the background, thereby shortening the startup time and allowing users to enter the photo home page faster.
