Alibaba's Response to Dongting Lake Levee Breach in Hunan

TapTechNews July 7th news, on July 6th, the Alibaba Public Welfare Foundation initiated the internal emergency rescue response mechanism, and jointly with Tmall Supermarket and Cainiao, overnight provided rescue supplies to the Dongting Lake levee breach disaster area in Huarong County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province.

At 9:15 am on July 7th, loading 649 cartons of crackers, 1200 cartons of drinking water, 940 cartons of mixed congee, etc. The first batch of rescue supplies worth 500,000 yuan was transported to the Flood Control and Drought Resistance Headquarters of Huarong County. Alibaba has also become the first enterprise outside the province to deliver supplies to the scene.

TapTechNews learned that considering the local temperature in Huarong has risen to 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit), and the disaster-stricken people have a relatively large demand for heatstroke prevention and hygiene, Alibaba's donated materials specifically included 85 cartons of toilet water, 65 cartons of disinfectant.

In addition, Alibaba's rural special commissioner Liu Han volunteered to become the special commissioner for this disaster relief, rushing to the front line with the rescue vehicle to communicate, liaison and allocate supplies.

Alibaba stated that to assist the flood-stricken areas in Hunan this year, it has previously assisted more than 160,000 food supplies and over 20 tons of pure water to Pingjiang County and Luxi County in Hunan.
