iFLYTEK Announces 5-Year HK$400 Million Investment Plan in Hong Kong

TapTechNews July 20th news, according to the South China Morning Post, iFLYTEK announced a 5-year, HK$400 million (TapTechNews note: currently about 373 million yuan) investment plan in Hong Kong on Friday and set up its international headquarters in Hong Kong.

The company said that this investment plan will support it to form a 150-person R & D team focusing on the development of large language models, as well as AI applications in fields such as intelligent speech, education and medical care. Duan Dawei, vice president of iFLYTEK, told the South China Morning Post at the opening ceremony of the new office building on Friday: Our initial budget is HK$400 million. If everything goes smoothly in Hong Kong, this number will also increase.

Duan Dawei said that with the newly established international headquarters, iFLYTEK plans to extend its flagship product - Spark large model and speech recognition tool to various enterprises and local consumer markets in Hong Kong. He added that the Hong Kong Legislative Council has already adopted iFLYTEK's real-time speech-to-text tool in the meeting. Hong Kong will become the overseas promotion platform for iFLYTEK's intelligent educational hardware and services, focusing on the Middle East and Southeast Asian markets.

Cheng Songyan, the chief executive of Hong Kong Cyberport, told the South China Morning Post: Cyberport is building an AI ecosystem, including a supercomputing center. He said that iFLYTEK will participate in the development of this project, and relevant discussions with Baidu have also begun.
