Google Emergency Update Chrome to Fix High-Risk Vulnerability

TapTechNews reported on May 11th that Google updated version 124.0.6367.201/202 of its Chrome browser for desktop platforms yesterday, urgently fixing a high-risk CVE-2024-4671 vulnerability that hackers are reportedly exploiting. Google disclosed that they received a report on the vulnerability from an anonymous source on May 7th and promptly started the repair work. The CVE-2024-4671 vulnerability has a CVSS rating of 8.8 and is a common 'Use-after-free' type RAM error that mainly affects the Chrome browser's interface components, allowing hackers to remotely execute code. Referencing recent reports from TapTechNews, Google is currently testing a 'more aggressive memory-saving solution' for the Chrome browser, where users will be able to adjust the 'aggressiveness' of memory release in the future. This feature will be integrated into the browser's settings > performance section, supporting three configuration modes: 'moderate,' 'balanced,' and 'maximum.'
