African Smartphone Market Update Tecno, Samsung, and Xiaomi Lead in Q1 2024

Analyst Manish Pravinkumar said, "In 2024, the ultra-low-end market in Africa (TapTechNews note: priced below $100, that is, below 725 Chinese yuan) will see a 13% growth. Xiaomi and Tecno are actively expanding product lines in this price range to meet the strong demand of the market."

In the first quarter of 2024, Tecno maintained a strong growth momentum by relying on entry-level models and consumer upgrades. Xiaomi achieved a 333% growth rate in the ultra-low-end market with the help of sub-brand Redmi's digital series and A series. The realme brand is building a brand new Note series to further consolidate its shipment volume in the ultra-low-end market.
