TapTechNews reported on May 28th that the first Esports World Cup (EWC) will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 3rd to August 25th this year, and the League of Legends event will be held in the first week (July 3rd to July 7th).
The total prize pool of this tournament will reach an unprecedented amount of over 60 million US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 435 million Chinese yuan), among which the League of Legends project has a prize pool of 1 million US dollars, including 400,000 US dollars for the champion, 200,000 US dollars for the runner-up, and 100,000 US dollars (currently about 725,000 Chinese yuan) for the third and fourth places, and 50,000 US dollars for the fifth to eighth places.
According to the introduction, the League of Legends project adopts a single-elimination knockout system (eliminated after losing one BO3), and both the semifinals and the semifinals are BO3 systems, while the final is a BO5 system. The directly invited teams are as follows:
