Meta to Launch Cheaper MetaQuest3 Head-Mounted Display Quest3S in September

TapTechNews August 26th news, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Meta may launch a cheaper MetaQuest3 head-mounted display in September, code-named Quest3S. This head-mounted display will be a simplified version of Quest3, and the expected price is between 300 to 400 US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 2139 to 2853 RMB). It is much cheaper than the Quest3 with a price of 499 US dollars (128GB version).

Gurman said that Quest3S may reduce costs by selling the controller separately. However, this may cause inconvenience to consumers as most people need the controller. If the controller is sold separately at 100 US dollars, then the total price of buying the head-mounted display and the controller will be close to the standard version of Quest3, which makes the significance of launching Quest3S not great.

Meta plans to hold the Connect developer conference on September 25th to 26th, and it is expected that the company will release Quest3S at this conference. Gurman also said that Meta may also launch a new AR glasses similar to Google Glass, code-named Orion. These glasses will be different from the popular Ray-BanMeta smart glasses, but the concept is similar.
