BYD's Plan to Build Factory in Mexico Site Selection and Future Outlook

TapTechNews August 26th news, according to a report by Reuters on the 22nd, Jorge Vallejo, general manager of BYD in Mexico, said in an interview that the company has narrowed the final site selection range for building a factory in Mexico to three states and is evaluating a series of incentive measures proposed by each candidate state.

According to him, these states have proposed a number of policies, including financial, land, management and preferential prices and other incentive measures. A factory not only needs space, but also logistics, all the development, the urban infrastructure generated, water, natural gas and everything needed for an automotive factory.

Jorge Vallejo added that BYD's goal is still to determine the factory site by the end of this year. The first stage of the Mexican factory will produce 150,000 vehicles, and another 150,000 in the second stage, and then increase the production capacity to 400,000 to 500,000 in subsequent years, but the company has not yet determined which models will be produced.
