Black Myth Wukong to Release DLC in 2025, Sales Forecast and Challenges

The clearance rate and full achievement completion rate on the Steam platform have reached 31.1% and 6.0% respectively.

The official team of Game Science has previously confirmed that Black Myth: Wukong will have DLC expansion content, and "once the game is stable, we will definitely release DLC". In addition, the investor of the game and the co-founder and CEO of Hero Games, Wu Dan, also confirmed this information.

As for what the content of the DLC is still unknown, but according to the game industry consultant Daniel Camilo who released the news on September 15th, The DLC of Black Myth: Wukong will be launched around the Lunar New Year in 2025 (TapTechNews note: January 29, 2025). That is to say, at the end of January, or shortly after. Camilo said that this was based on the "very reliable first-hand source of information" he heard.

Camilo also predicted that the current sales of Black Myth: Wukong have reached about 20 million copies, but the sales of the DLC will be less than 20% of the total user group, for the following reasons:

Most of the sales come from China (more than 70%)

When the DLC is released, the novelty and national pride and other sales-boosting factors of Chinese consumers will disappear

The game is too challenging

Camilo claimed that Black Myth: Wukong is too challenging, at least several million of the people who bought the game in China are not core/hardcore game players. For many consumers, the DLC is simply not an interesting choice.
