Tesla to Offer Another Quarterly Activity for FSD Transfer

TapTechNews June 14th news, Elon Musk, the chief executive of Tesla, has repeatedly claimed that Tesla does not allow owners to transfer the FullSelf-Driving (FSD) function to a new car. However, at the shareholder meeting held today, Musk said that there will be another quarterly activity and the transfer service will be opened to car owners.

The FSD system of Tesla has been publicly sold for many years, but it has not yet developed into a complete system. These owners can use Tesla's FSDBeta, now known as FSDSupervised, but no Tesla owner has been able to use the true fully autonomous driving system yet.

For users who have bought multiple Tesla cars, the complaining problem is: Since the software of the previous car has never been delivered, why do you have to buy the same software again when changing to a new car?

Considering that the price of buying FSD now is higher than the price when many early owners bought it, it has caused a lot of complaints and ridicules from car owners.

TapTechNews reported in April this year that Tesla has now once again allowed owners of new Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X to transfer their FSD rights for free to another new car, and FSD can be transferred simultaneously with other policies, such as free supercharging service.

Tesla's official website shows that vehicles delivered before February 3, 2024, used inventory vehicles, vehicles for commercial use, and leased vehicles do not meet the free transfer conditions, and vehicles with total loss also cannot obtain the FSD transfer qualification.

In overseas markets, Tesla supported FSD transfer last year, but only allowed it for two months, and then no longer allowed it.

Someone at Tesla's quarterly conference call, when asked if FSD transfer could be made permanent, Musk gave a negative answer.

Then someone asked again if it was possible to have another quarterly activity to realize FSD transfer. Musk hesitated when answering. He said that realizing the transfer within Tesla's sales framework is a complicated thing, but he finally agreed.
