Apple Seeks Chinese Partner for 'Apple Brand AI' Launch in China

TapTechNews June 22nd news, according to the Wall Street Journal's local time Thursday report, Apple is currently actively seeking a Chinese local enterprise to cooperate in order to launch the Apple brand AI AppleIntelligence in China. It is reported that Apple has contacted Baidu, Ali and the start-up company Baichuan, but has not reached any agreement yet.

It is reported that Apple is currently lagging behind other competitors in China, because the new products recently launched by Chinese smartphone manufacturers also have AI functions; Samsung has even cooperated with Baidu and Meitu to launch a smartphone with a series of AI functions integrated in China.

According to China Business News, none of the above companies have publicly responded to this matter.

Earlier this month, Apple's software engineering director, CraigFederighi, disclosed some future development plans for AppleIntelligence in an interview with FastCompany. He said that Apple is trying to find a way to introduce AppleIntelligence into the Chinese market, although there is no specific timeline for now, but this is definitely what we want to do. Initially, AppleIntelligence will only support American English, and it is not clear whether users in other regions will be able to use this function.

And according to TapTechNews' previous report, Apple announced this week that regulatory issues will cause EU users to temporarily not be able to use AppleIntelligence, iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay screen sharing functions when iOS18 and macOS Sequoia are released in this autumn. Apple said in a statement to the Financial Times that due to regulatory issues related to DMA Act compliance, these functions will not be available to EU users this year.
